“The people walking in darkness have seen a great light;

on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned.”

Isaiah 9:2

In a place or period of darkness, nothing brings hope like light….even the smallest beams of light, the tiniest flicker of flame, dispels darkness and bring hope. Let us bring some light to the world around us through our prayers and petitions today!

1.  At a UN Forum in Sweden this week, UN chief Ban Ki-Moon has praised progress in Iraq, saying: “If we had to use one word to describe the situation in Iraq today I would choose… hope.” According to Mr. Ban, “There is new hope that the people and government of Iraq are overcoming daunting challenges and working together to rebuild their country.” Let’s pray that God will work through local and international authorities to restore peace and stability to Iraq, but more importantly that this broken people would recognize Jesus Christ as the only true HOPE for lasting peace.

2.  Pray for the innocent children and youth caught in the midst of political / religious wars, such as the six Iraqi teenagers in northern Iraq who were recently reported to being trained, against their will, to carry out suicide bombings for al Qaeda in Iraq. May the church find ways to reach out to children and youth with the love, truth and hope of Christ before negative influences and deceptive teaching lead them down a path of destruction

3.  The AP regional communications team has been asked to help produce a vernacular version of “The God’s Story” video for a major unreached people group in the Southern Philippines. Ask God to give them wisdom and creativity in the process, and that God would raise up all the right translators and voice talents for this project, and that He will prepare hearts and minds to receive the truth of His story.

4. Pray for Rez, a high school student from a neighbor family, who had to return unexpectedly to his home country this past week. Pray that the seeds planted in his heart by his Christian teachers and friends will bear fruit.
5. Adapted from CMMequip.org — Please Pray:
  • for continued successful witness to Neighbors through print, television, radio, and Internet ministries.
  • for Saudi nationals who are believers, that they will be strong in their faith and bold in their witness, in spite of restrictions.
  • for the Gospel to reach the neighbors of India. India is home to 140 million neighbors, the second highest number of any country on earth.
6. Lift up the 30-Days.net staff during the coming weeks as they work on the Children’s edition page layout It is critical for them that they be able to work with good attitudes with creativity in order to produce another excellent product. This will inspire and inform Christian children all over the world to pray for neighbors during Ramadan.
7. Pray for wisdom and discernment for a sister who is attempting to write and send a critical, personal letter to a neighbor friend in the next few days. The neighbor is showing great openness to the Scriptures. Pray that God will use the words of the letter, to lead the recipient to hunger more for God’s word and fo personal relationship with God through Christ.

Today, as you stand in the gap for the lost, please pray for:

1. Follow up visits to Majid by other team members, that Majid will continue to be open to conversations about the Word of God and about Isa al Masih. Pray that he will be drawn to read the Bible and Christian literature recently given to him.

2. Abaz who continues to suffer from kidney failure. He has had to spend quite a bit of time in the hospital recently for dialysis. Some of our team members have been able to visit him in the hospital and have given him a copy of the Jesus film in his language. Pray that Abaz will be drawn to view the video and ultimately drawn to Christ in this time of vulnerability and need.

3. Rooz, a banquet manager at a hotel who received (by request) a Christian book from one of our team members. We recently heard that his wife has cancer, so Rooz has had to give up his job to care for their children. May he and his family be drawn to Christ during this difficult time. May our team members be able to effectively and sensitively minister to him as well.

4. Today’s featured Joshua Project UPG are the Tuareg, Kal Tamasheq of Mali. There are 463,000 Tuareg people living mostly in the country of Mali. They are less than .01% Christian. Pray that:

  • Missions agencies and churches will accept the challenge of adopting and reaching the Tahoua Tuareg.
  • Gospel broadcasts will soon be produced in the Tamajeq language.
  • The small number of Tahoua Tuareg believers will rise to the challenge of taking the Gospel to their people.
  • God will reveal Himself to the Tuareg through dreams and visions.
  • God will grant wisdom and favor to missions agencies targeting the Tuareg.
  • Take authority over the spiritual principalities and powers that are keeping the Tuareg bound.
  • Ask the Lord to save key leaders among the Tuareg who will boldly declare the Gospel.
  • Ask the Lord to raise up strong local churches among the Tahoua Tuareg. Tuareg, Kal Tamasheq of Mali.
